Medical Clinic Update from Dr. Berg
It’s finally happening! Preperations for Mission-Haiti’s new medical clinic in Haiti has been underway since January 2017.
To date, the land has been cleared, the wall constructed, and the well dug. The vision is taking shape. For years, we've wanted to provide the Ti-Riviere community with quality, affordable healthcare. Currently, there is a small clinic that is open only limited hours and is not staffed with a medical doctor. The needs of the community are not being met.
During my visit last month, I met with community leaders and heard how the lack of medical care in their community has impacted their and their families’ lives. Every person there had a story where Haiti's medical system had failed them. It was painful to hear. Mission-Haiti desires to give this community dependable medical care.
The new clinic will be staffed full time by a Haitian doctor and supported by access to American specialists. We will diagnose and treat acute conditions as well as chronic diseases with our lab, x-ray and pharmacy. We will help as many as we can, regardless of their ability to pay. This clinic will also create jobs and security in the community.
