Our Board

The Mission-Haiti Board consists of 6 people that are committed to keep themselves well informed of Mission-Haiti’s activities, finances, goals and vision. While identified staff members and volunteers may be responsible for specific tasks, board members are responsible for the overall financial responsibility, transparency and sustainability of the ministry.


    Nelson VanDenHoek

    Nelson VanDenHoek is a retired private business owner after 32 years. He worked with LifeLight Communications, Inc. since its inception and he is now contracted to them as their Facilities Manager and Operations Co-Manager. He served two terms as Vice President on his church board and has served for 10 years with Mission-Haiti, most recently as the board President, planning to make annual or more frequent trips to Haiti.

    Jay Woudstra

    Jay Woudstra is in his 16th year as an administrator at Sioux Falls Christian Schools in Sioux Falls, SD. Prior to moving to Sioux Falls in 2000, he was a teacher and administrator at Central Valley Christian School in Visalia, CA. where he served from 1989 to 2000. He has served on the Mission-Haiti board since 2013. Jay says that it has been a privilege to serve on the board surrounded by passionate Christian people. A highlight for him and for Sioux Falls Christian has been the partnership with Mission-Haiti in building a Christian academy in southwest Haiti which opened its doors in September of 2015 to 73 students. He has been able to visit Haiti 8 times in the last three years, and has plans to visit many more times if God allows to support the work of this school and the overall mission and vision of Mission-Haiti.

    Kirk Flaa

    Kirk Flaa is in his 8th year as senior pastor at Abiding Savior Free Lutheran church in Sioux Falls, SD. It has been a privilege for him to serve on the Mission-Haiti board since 2013. A highlight of his church’s partnership with Mission-Haiti is his church’s sponsorship of the school in Toussaint, and he has been blessed to be able to make several trips to Haiti in support of this work.

    Jeri VanDenHoek

    Jeri VanDenHoek is a retired private business owner after 32 years. She has been a full-time volunteer for LIfeLight in several areas since its inception. She worked for Winfield (a segment of Land O’Lakes) for over 15 years in their customer service department. Jeri has been a part of Mission-Haiti for over 10 years. She enjoys spending her free time with her children and four grandchildren. 

    Chad Hatch

    Chad Hatch is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Bird Dog Equity Partners, a private equity firm based in Sioux Falls, SD. After graduating from the University of South Dakota in 1992, Chad joined the U.S. Army as an active duty officer stationed in Colorado Springs CO. He spent the next four years as the leader for three different platoons including a M1A1 tank platoon with 16 soldiers. Upon leaving the military, Chad has been active in the field of corporate finance, venture capital and private equity for the past 20 years.

    Chad has participated in four mission trips to Haiti and has served on the Mission-Haiti board of directors for the past two years. Building up Christian leaders in Haiti through education and jobs continues to be a strong passion. He resides in Sioux Falls with his wife, Korie, and three children, Abby, Hannah, and Gavin.

    James Krueger

    James Krueger is a Partner and Vice President of Interactive Services at Click Rain, an online marketing company. James knows marketing—both online and offline. His genuine interest in helping clients succeed comes through in his everyday work where he strives to create a solid foundation for client–agency partnerships. In fact, creating meaningful partnerships is at the center of everything he does. James is also the Chair of the Downtown Sioux Falls board where he contributes ideas to improve his local community. James was introduced to Mission-Haiti while in Haiti on a Click Rain service and learning trip, and has now traveled there three times. James considers one of his foremost accomplishments to be his family and on the weekends, you’ll see him out with his wife and three boys at basketball games or outdoors. James enjoys staying active, as he and his wife have completed over 10 half-marathons together.

    Vince Lubben

    Vince Lubben is the President of Wireless World, a Verizon retailer, building and expanding the company from 4 stores in 1999 to 36 locations in 5 states today. Previously, he was Senior Account Manager for CommNet Cellular helping to develop business contacts. Vince lives in Sioux Falls with his wife, Jeanine, and their five boys. The family enjoys spending spend time during the summer at Lake Okoboji. 

    Vince joined Mission-Haiti's board in 2016, but has been an active partner for many years prior. Having been to Haiti numerous times, Vince's passion is to promote economic development through training & equipping Haitian entrepreneurs. His desire is to help these entrepreneurs advance their leadership skills, business opportunities, and spiritual fortitude.

    Nathan Vander Griend

    Nathan Vander Griend is a Partner and President at ERI Solutions, Inc., an environmental, health, safety, risk management and insurance program management company headquartered in Colwich, KS. In addition to his role with ERI Solutions, Inc., Nathan is also a Partner and President of Paragon NDT, LLC a full service non-destructive testing and inspection company headquartered in Wichita, KS, and Partner and Director of ERM SPC, Ltd. a property and casualty segregated portfolio reinsurance company domiciled in the Cayman Islands.

    Nathan and his wife Erin made their first trip to Haiti in January of 2016 with Mission-Haiti’s Board of Directors and a Dispatch Project team from Sioux Falls, SD and fell in love with the organization, the people and the mission. Nathan joined the Mission-Haiti Board of Directors in December of 2016.  

    Nathan, his wife Erin, and their daughter Evie reside in Wichita, KS.
